When you add files to SugarSync, you'll see different icons representing the sync status of your synced files and folders. Let's take a look at what they mean.

If you'd prefer to turn off the icons, here's how:
1. Launch the SugarSync desktop app.
2. On a Windows PC click Tools > Preferences or on a Mac select SugarSync > Preferences

3. Clear the check box to show file status icons.
The above icon is added to files or folders by Windows and is not a SugarSync icon. It indicates the permissions of the file or folder have been modified, which happens when you use SugarSync. The data still syncs properly, the file has not been locked.
If you'd like to remove the lock icons, you can allow SugarSync permissions on the folder level. You'll find instructions through the Microsoft support site. After setting the folder's File Sharing Permissions to Everyone, the locks should disappear.
